והוה כד אתקנת מלכותיה דרחבעם וכד אתקף שבק ית אוריתא דיי וכל ישראל עמיה:
emyh yshral wkl dyy awrytha yth shbq athqp wkd drkhbem mlkwthyh athqnth kd whwh
When the kingdom of Rehoboam was established and he was strong, he abandoned Yahweh’s law, and all Israel with him.

והוה בשתא חמישיתא למלכא רחבעם סליק שישק מלכא דמצרים על ירושלם מטול דשקרו במימרא דיי:
dyy bmymra dshqrw mTwl yrwshlm el dmtsrym mlka shyshq slyq rkhbem lmlka khmyshytha bshtha whwh
In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against Yahweh,

באלפא ומאתן ארתכין ובשתין אלפין פרשין ולית סכום לעמא די אתו עמיה ממצרים לובאי וסוכאי וכושאי:
wkwshay wswkay lwbay mmtsrym emyh athw dy lema skwm wlyth prshyn alpyn wbshthyn arthkyn wmathn balpa
with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen. The people were without number who came with him out of Egypt: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.

וכבש ית קרויא כריכתא דהוו ליהודה ואתו לירושלם:
lyrwshlm wathw lyhwdh dhww kryktha qrwya yth wkbsh
He took the fortified cities which belonged to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.

ושמעיה נביא אתא לות רחבעם ורבני יהודה דאתכנשו לירושלם מן קדם שישק ואמר להון כדנן אמר יי אתון שבקתון ית דחלתי וברם אנא אשבוק יתכון בידא דשישק:
dshyshq byda ythkwn ashbwq ana wbrm dkhlthy yth shbqthwn athwn yy amr kdnn lhwn wamr shyshq qdm mn lyrwshlm dathknshw yhwdh wrbny rkhbem lwth atha nbya wshmeyh
Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, “Yahweh says, ‘You have forsaken me, therefore I have also left you in the hand of Shishak.’”

ואתכנעו רבני ישראל ומלכא ואמרו זכאה הוא יי:
yy hwa zkah wamrw wmlka yshral rbny wathknew
Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, “Yahweh is righteous.”

וכד גלי קדם יי ארום אתכנעו הוה פתגם נבואה עם שמעיה למימר אתכנעו עמי ולא אחבלנון ואתן להון כזעיר לשזבא ולא תחול רוגזי בירושלם בידא דשישק:
dshyshq byda byrwshlm rwgzy thkhwl wla lshzba kzeyr lhwn wathn akhblnwn wla emy athknew lmymr shmeyh em nbwah pthgm hwh athknew arwm yy qdm gly wkd
When Yahweh saw that they humbled themselves, Yahweh’s word came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath won’t be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

ארום יהוון ליה לעבדין וידעון פולחני ושעבוד מלכות ארעתא:
aretha mlkwth wshebwd pwlkhny wydewn lebdyn lyh yhwwn arwm
Nevertheless they will be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.”

וסליק שישק מלכא דמצרים על ירושלם ושבא ית תסברי בית מקדשא דיי וית תסברי בית מלכא וית כל תשבחת רגונא נסיב ושבא ית תריסי דהבא דעבד שלמה:
shlmh debd dhba thrysy yth wshba nsyb rgwna thshbkhth kl wyth mlka byth thsbry wyth dyy mqdsha byth thsbry yth wshba yrwshlm el dmtsrym mlka shyshq wslyq
So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem and took away the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house. He took it all away. He also took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

ועבד מלכא רחבעם חלופיהון עגילין דנחשא ומני על יד רבני רהטוניא דנטרין תרע בית מלכא:
mlka byth thre dnTryn rhTwnya rbny yd el wmny dnkhsha egylyn khlwpyhwn rkhbem mlka webd
King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.

והוה כד עליל מלכא לבית מקדשא דיי עללין רהטוניא ונטלונון ומתיבין יתהון לדוכא דרהטוניא ונטלונון ומתיבין יתהון לדוכא דרהטוניא:
drhTwnya ldwka ythhwn wmthybyn wnTlwnwn drhTwnya ldwka ythhwn wmthybyn wnTlwnwn rhTwnya ellyn dyy mqdsha lbyth mlka elyl kd whwh
As often as the king entered into Yahweh’s house, the guard came and bore them, then brought them back into the guard room.

וכד תבר לביה תב מניה רוגזא דיי ולא אמר לחבלא ולשיצאה לכל עמא ואוף בדבית יהודה אמר לאיתאה פתגמין טבין:
Tbyn pthgmyn laythah amr yhwdh bdbyth wawp ema lkl wlshytsah lkhbla amr wla dyy rwgza mnyh thb lbyh thbr wkd
When he humbled himself, Yahweh’s wrath turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether. Moreover, there were good things found in Judah.

ואתקף מלכא רחבעם בירושלם ומלך ארום בר ארבעין וחדא שנין הוה כד מלך ושבסרי שנין מלך בירושלם קרתא דאתרעי יי לאשראה שכנתיה תמן מכל שבטיא דישראל ושום אמיה נעמה עמוניתא :
emwnytha nemh amyh wshwm dyshral shbTya mkl thmn shknthyh lashrah yy dathrey qrtha byrwshlm mlk shnyn wshbsry mlk kd hwh shnyn wkhda arbeyn br arwm wmlk byrwshlm rkhbem mlka wathqp
So King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned; for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

ועבד דביש ארום לא כון לביה למתבע אולפן מן קדם יי:
yy qdm mn awlpn lmthbe lbyh kwn la arwm dbysh webd
He did that which was evil, because he didn’t set his heart to seek Yahweh.

ופתגמי רחבעם קדמאי ובתראי הלא אנון כתיבין בפתגמי שמעיה נביא ועדו נביא בספר יחוס בית דוד וסדרי קרביא דהוו בין רחבעם ובין ירבעם כל יומיא:
ywmya kl yrbem wbyn rkhbem byn dhww qrbya wsdry dwd byth ykhws bspr nbya wedw nbya shmeyh bpthgmy kthybyn anwn hla wbthray qdmay rkhbem wpthgmy
Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, aren’t they written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, in the genealogies? There were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
